Es el verano de 1889, y Antonín Dvořák tiene mucha energía. Va a componer lo que va a ser su octava sinfonía, y escribe a su amigo con una confianza descarada: “Va inesperadamente fácilmente...¡las melodías simplemente fluyen de mí! Su concierto de febrero presenta la música audaz y melódica de tres siglos. “A la caída de la tarde” de José Dolores Cerón es un panorama de sonido nostálgico y fluido hermoso de la tradición clásica dominicana.
El Director de Música Chris Whittaker presenta un concierto por violín nuevo por el concertino anterior de WHCO Amos Fayette. El concierto concluye con la octava sinfonía de Dvořák sublime y melodiosa.

José Dolores Cerón(1897 - 1969) As a composer, Cerón is best known for his symphonic poems, such as A la Caida de la Tarde (In the Late Afternoon), Iguanona, Enriquillo and Las Virgens de Galindo (Galindo’s Virgins). In regards to his music - Dominican singer and musicologist Inchaustegui Aristides wrote: “Cerón was one of the finest melodists the country had.” (Source: Music Art of Caribbean Latin America)
