Join us for the opening concert of 2016-17 season of the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra! On Saturday, September 24th at 3:00 pm, WHCO kicks off their 2nd season of free concerts at Fort Washington Collegiate Church, featuring music by Moncayo, Ginastera, Haydn, and Mahler. Our program opens with "Huapango" by José Pablo Moncayo García, followed by Haydn's famous 101st Symphony in D major, "The Clock." Following intermission, we present Mahler's beloved slow movement from his 5th symphony, "Adagietto" and conclude the afternoon with Alberto Ginastera's Variaciones Concertantes, Op. 23. Chris Whittaker leads the world-class musicians of the WHCO in his warm and communicative style. Come experience great music with our neighborhood right on your doorstep! Following the concert, Friends of WHCO are invited to a special reception featuring food and drink provided by uptown businesses. Free and open to all ages!
